My tutor thinks the idea of taking the pictures of the steampunk group sounds good and advises me to take a wide variety of images to get a mix of posed photographs with a more candid and documentary style mixed in. Photographers to look at:
Chris Killip - British photographer, this was England, 2 decades of images taken in the north east, documentary style taken in black and white, really captures the bleak times and deprivation but also the strength of the subjects.
Others that spring to my mind are - Henri Cartier Bresson has to be the master of this style of photography, although William Klein and Daido Moriyama are also great sources of inspiration.
Documentary photography - chronicle significant and historical events, telling a story through images with an interesting flow.
Candid - captured without creating a posed appearance, no planning, no distracting. HCB master of candid - the 'decisive moment'. Candid may be more difficult as will be indoors, must take tripod and use high ISO - shoot in RAW and Jpeg.
