Tim Hetherington exhibition - Liverpool Open Eye

Didn't make the study day to this but was able to make a brief visit when in Liverpool on a day trip with my eldest daughter.

I previously reviewed Tim Hetherington's book 'Infidel' whilst studying 'The Art of Photography', which was the main impetus for getting along to the exhibition. The gallery showed a mixture of still photography punctuated with some of Tim's film works, which for me were the most powerful. One of the video's entitled 'sleeping soldiers' was the centrepiece of the exhibition, a three channel video, presenting the viewer with a juxtaposition of portraits of the soldiers on the front line asleep, with images of intense conflict and fighting, this video piece highlights the fragility of these men 'looking like little boys as their mothers probably remember them'
