- A family photo shoot in local park to capture the autumn colours
- The shoot would'nt be time limited
- The images would be uploaded onto Lightroom for review
- Unsuitable images would be deleted
- Improvements would be made and specific images of suitable quality selected
- Suitable images would be selected and burned onto the disc and given to the family as a gift
So...how did it go?
- I traveled with the family to Hartsholme park, where coats and hats were donned and off we went. It was hard to decide where to take photo's, I'd been to the park before so had a rough idea. Had I not known the family I may have looked a little confused as there was little direction coming from me. Learning points would be to have a written plan of where images are to be taken and a list of what poses to take, although this would be changed if necessary, also a prior visit is essential.
- The photo shoot took around an hour and a half which was roughly the right length of time, it was starting to get cold for the children so any longer would have started to get uncomfortable. Learning points: walking around carrying the bag was a little onerous so having someone to help especially as the group moved around the park quite a bit would be useful next time. Also, having a spare memory card is a learning point to remember, or to clear the card in the camera, franticly deleting old images whilst walking was a little distracting.
- Uploading the images onto the computer was straight forward, performing a back up at the end of the process advisable as the subjects wouldn't be impressed to have to repeat the process.
- Unsuitable images were deleted, this was a fairly quick process, obvious ones were deleted with 2 clicks, dubious images were zoomed in on with one click to see how sharp they were, any not sharp were deleted immediately.
- As I'd taken images on 'continuous' I had a great many to choose from (approx 300), preferred images were cropped. Other improvements adjusted if necessary were colour saturation, contrast, and a little vignetting added where it improved the image.
- Selected images were burned onto a disc, as I was using a new laptop this took a couple of attempts as I'd not gone through the procedure before and hadn't burned them onto the disc when I first thought I had. I gave the disc to the family as a thank you for being my guinea pigs, I'm pleased to say they were happy with them.
