Assignment 4 - Tutor Feedback

Feedback on assignment
This assignment feedback is shorter due to be only two images taken.

The idea is simple but effective to highlight two of the keys buildings in Rome.
Cropping the buildings to show sections of them is enough to communicate the idea.
The images have been taken in similar lighting conditions so they do marry well together.  The selecting of the buildings could be better – particularly on the Pantheon as it is a bit lumpy around the columns.  Taking time to experiment with different methods of making a selection in Photoshop can help you.  A quick Google search will find lots of various tutorials on this.  There is no one technique that works well in all situations.  You haven’t detailed your selection methods in the description.

You may like to go through and add some screen shots that take you thorough the Photoshop process.  If you tried some methods that didn’t work you may like to briefly outline and say what the problem was.

Learning Logs or Blogs/Critical essays
The log was commented on in the recently sent assignment 3 feedback.

Suggested reading/viewing
Do look for some examples of tourist brochures to include as research.

Assignment 5
Personal Project
This assignment does give you free reign to demonstrate all that you have learnt so far.  However I think the key here is to keep the project focused rather than trying to show all that you can do.

The hardest part is often the starting point.  The theme should be personal to you, and be a subject that you are interested in.  This will allow you to develop a range of ideas.  Also consider how accessible your idea is – can you reshoot – on any project you should allow for several shoots in order for the images to evolve.

You may wish to email me an outline of your idea, before you go too far.  I think that committing your brief to paper also helps focus the mind and the project!

Once you have some idea on your project please do get in touch as I can then search suitable photographers as research.
