Research

Before commencing assignment 3, monochrome, my tutor has recommended a number of photographers to research:

Still life - Edward Weston, Paul Strand
Portraits - Arnold Newman, Jane Bown
landscape - Ansel Adams, John Blakemore
Social documentary - Henri Cartier-Bresson, Brassai
Buildings - Eugene Alget, Bernd and Hilda Becher

Edward Weston

Paul Strand
10/10/1890 - 31/03/76
An American photographer and film maker who, along with fellow modernist photographers like Edward Weston, helped establish photography as a art form in the 20th century. Use of shadows, lines, geometry and numerous genres including still life images of plants in the years before his death, which, with the use of monochrome, beautifully show texture and form to portray the subjects as objects of art - see link below
