An American photographer and film maker who, along with fellow modernist photographers like Edward Weston, helped establish photography as a art form in the 20th century. Use of shadows, lines, geometry and numerous genres including still life images of plants in the years before his death, which, with the use of monochrome, beautifully show texture and form to portray the subjects as objects of art - see link below
